Keoki Stender's Spotted Eagle Ray (Aetobatus ocellatus)

Of the Spotted Eagle Ray (Aetobatus ocellatus), Keoki tells us: "Locally common in areas adjacent to wide expanses of sand including wrecks around Oahu where they rest. Juveniles are common on sand flats in Kaneohe Bay. Long tail has several venomous barbs. Attains width of at least 4 feet. Hawaii and the Indo-Pacific. Formerly known as Aetobatus narinari, which only occurs in the Western Atlantic."
