Identification:

It is shaped like a top, or turban, and has a thick shell with an iridescent interior.

Distribution:

All seas.

Maximum Size:

To 6".

Reef Tank Safe:

Yes, with caution.

Diet & Feeding:

This herbivorous snail requires plenty of diatom and microalgae to survive. If this animal runs out of algae, it will slowly die of starvation.

Characteristics & Compatibility:

Some of these snails offered for sale in the aquarium trade are collected in the subtropical waters of Mexico and do not long survive the warmer waters of most reef aquariums.
