Photo Contest Rules

Read All About It

  • BEFORE submitting any personal photos, other content or information to us (your Guides Debbie and Stan Hauter) for display here at About Saltwater Aquariums, read the About.com User Agreement, especially Section 4 which in part states that, "You agree that About.com and its licensees may reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works and otherwise use all information, text, messages, photographs, member or display name and other materials posted (as well as submitted) by you (collectively, the "Materials") for any purpose in any form and on any media."

  • Any photo(s) submitted MUST BE saltwater/marine aquarium related. If you have any freshwater, brackish water, or pond related pictures, please send them to your About Freshwater Aquariums Guide Shirlie Sharpe.

  • Because of the large number of photos submitted each month, all images received will be reviewed by your About Guides to Saltwater Aquariums and CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION as an entry into a FUTURE photo contest, NOT one that is already in progress. It may take some time for a particular photo submission to appear in a contest, so be patient and check back each month to see if your entry may be included.

  • All photos submitted MUST BE in a JPG or GIF FORMAT.

  • Photo entries will be chosen for inclusion by your Guides based on the quality, content, and clarity of the image. Because images are frequently resized down as small as 150 pixels wide for display purposed on other pages throughout About Saltwater Aquariums, try to take pictures that are still going to have good clarity and detail when viewed at a smaller size.

  • Only one photo from any one person will be considered for entry into a single contest.

  • You are allowed to submit more than one photo at a time, but please DO NOT send us your whole photo collection.

  • The Winners of a contest are determined by you, the voters! Once you have decided which photo entry is your favorite in any given contest, just cast your vote.

  • The Top 3 photos in each contest that receives the highest number of votes will be determined the winners.

  • Unless otherwise stated, all photos displayed are protected under the "About.com User Agreement", and therefore are NOT TO BE COPIED!.

  • Each photo contest will run from the date it is first posted on this site, and continue up to the contest closing date and time specified.

  • The voting results of any contest can be viewed at any time during the contest period, as well as after a contest has concluded.

  • All closed contests are archived for viewing.
