Scientific Name:

Cirrhitichthys falco.

Other Common Names:

Dwarf Hawkfish, Spotted Hawkfish.

Distribution:

Indo-Pacific.

Description:

The body is white with red-brown spots that run diagonally along the body. They have small tufts of bright yellow on the tips of their dorsal fin ray.

Maximum Size:

2.8".

Reef Safe?:

Yes, but may eat small ornamental shrimps.

Characteristics & Compatibility:

This hardy Hawkfish is a great choice for beginners. It should not be kept with smaller, less aggressive fish. It will spend most of its time sitting on the substrate, rather than on the rock and decorations in a tank. It is a very quick species, darting across the tank to capture its food.

Diet & Feeding:

Feed meaty foods including marine fish, crustacean flesh, Mysid Shrimp and frozen preparations daily.
