Therefore, it is important to check the ISBN shown with a publication you are interested in buying, because this number assigned to a book identifies it by title, as well as other specifications.

• What version the book is, hardcover or softcover/paperback.
• The year is was published, or if the book is a reprint or revised version.
• Part of the code is an identifier of the publisher that produced the book.
