Install the float valve - DIY (Do It Yourself) Automatic Top Off System

Photo by Stan & Debbie Hauter
Turn the water valve off under the sink and install the saddle valve between the shut off valve and the sink faucet per the instructions included with the saddle valve. When installed, the saddle valve will pierce the water line. Turn the saddle valve off, then turn the water under the sink back on and check for leaks.

Determine at what level the float valve will need to be installed to maintain the water level you desire in either in your tank or sump. Locate the float valve carefully, make sure that the float will be able to move freely and will not interfere with any other equipment.

You will probably need to remove some of the water from the sump if you are going to install the float valve through it. Drill the appropriate sized hole in the sump wall and install the float valve. Trim the excess tubing and connect the plastic tubing to the float valve. Check the float valve movement.

The photo above shows the float valve installed in a sump.
