Here's what you need to do to get everything ready to put this DIY aquarium stand together:

  • Cut the plywood to make a support board of size for your aquarium, and sand the edges.
  • (The easiest way to measure the piece you will need to cut is to place the plywood on a flat surface, place the aquarium on top of the plywood, then draw an outline around the base of the tank. If the aquarium is too large to do this, just measure the top diameter area of the aquarium to the outside edges (which will be the same as the bottom), mark the plywood, and cut.

  • Cut 3 equal in length pieces of 2 x 4 to the size needed, sand the ends and any rough edges that will be visible.

  • Although an optional step, at this point painting all the pieces of wood and the cement blocks is recommended. This will definately beautify the stand's appearance, and it's much harder and messier to paint it after it's in use.
