Here's a list of the materials you'll need to make this DIY aquarium stand:

  • 6 - 6" x 8" x 16" cinder blocks.
  • (The stand can be shortened by using 4 blocks (2 on each side), or hightened by using 8 blocks (4 on each side). If the tank is of substantial length, an additional row of blocks can be added in the center for extra support.)

  • Enough 2 x 4 material to cut 3 equal in size boards that span the length of your aquarium.

  • A sheet of 5/8" plywood, or a piece large enough to cut out a support board the size of your aquarium.

  • A suitable saw for cutting plywood, and 2 x 4's if necessary.

  • Sand paper or a tool for sanding wood.

  • Optional, But Recommended: Choice of color, brush applied or spray on glossy latex paint.
