    Notes

  • Most Turbinaria fairly easy to keep
  • T. reniformis and T. mesenterina notably difficult to keep

  • Most prefer reduced light

  • Requires moderate current to keep coral surface free from debris.

  • Captive Care:

Most Turbinaria prefer reduced light levels. Some species, such as T. peltata and T. patula are prolific mucus producers and will shed mucas layers in response to touch. The production of mucus is likely a method to trap detritus and other material used by the coral.

These corals should be kept free of debris in their folds. Flushing with a turkey baster or hand held powerhead will help prevent necrosis.
