Female Spotted Boxfish
From Keoki's Fish Corner a female Spotted Boxfish (Ostracion meleagris) which is common on shallow reefs and reaches 6 inches in length. Females are dark brown with small white dots overall. Males are dark blue with orange markings and black above with large white spots. The Hawaiian form has fewer orange spots than those elsewhere.

Spiny Cowfish
From Keoki's Fish Corner a Spiny Cowfish (Lactoria diaphana) Very rare in Hawaii. Belly is very convex. Head spines are short. Usually about 5 inches long. Fairly common in Japan.
Thornback Cowfish
From Keoki's Fish Corner a Thornback Cowfish (Lactoria fornasini). Uncommon and well-hidden among sandy rubble and seaweed. Usually less than 3.5 inches long. Two prominent spines above the eyes. Bright blue lines may be present. Common in Japan.
