Green Hair Algae

Steven Boss
Steven Boss sent us this photo of some of the Green Hair Algae which was growing rampantly in his tank. The trapped bubbles you see are caused by gasses being released from the algae as it decomposes. This is usually a sign the algae is starting to die off.

The "Rapid Nitrate Reduction Water Change Method" reduces nitrates and phosphates (the foods that Green Hair Algae needs to grow) to near zero in a short period of time. About Nuisance Green Macroalgae Species explains what Green Hair Algae is, what causes it to grow in your tank and different methods for getting rid of it.
