Bio-Load
Whether you have a newly cycled tank or a well established one, whenever the bio-load placed on the aquarium "exceeds" the beneficial bacteria population in it, a spiking or recycling problem of some degree will occur.
When the bacteria population out numbers the bio-load placed on the aquarium, the bacteria are able to compensate and easily consume the ammonia produced from the load, and therefore the tank remains stable.
What To Do?
Nothing. You no doubt have been taking it slow and easy, and treated your aquarium respectfully. Keep up the good work!  ~Debbie & Stan Hauter
