Bio-Load |
| Whether you have a newly cycled tank or a well established one, whenever the bio-load placed on the aquarium "exceeds" the beneficial bacteria population in it, spiking or recycling problem of some degree will occur. |
When the bio-load added
is equivalent or equal to the bacteria population in the aquarium, the
tank remains fairly stable, but on the edge. Often you can tell when you
are on the "border" of overload, as a very slight sign of ammonia may appear,
but disappears within a day or two.

Take it easy! After the ammonia returns to zero, perform a 25 to 50% water change, then wait at least a week (two is better) before adding any new livestock to the aquarium. ~Debbie & Stan Hauter |
