The Bottom Line
Each of these five individual Current Generators creates a unique wave pattern. These units are tank mounted with a 4 suction cup base and require a pump (additional) with at least 500 GPH flow rate.
Pros
- Five wave patterns to choose from.
- Relatively inexpensive wavemakers.
- 4 suction cup base for easy relocation.
Cons
- Requires a pump with at least 500 GPH flow rate.
- Tubes and additional plumbing to deal with.
- Rotators reported to require frequent replacement.
Description
- The Pulser creates a pulsing, pressure wave using a flat fan-shaped stream.
- The Two-Port Pulser creates a pressure wave by pulsing water through two opposing ports.
- The Oscillator creates a pressure wave with a 100° back and forth sweep of water.
- The Rotating Pulser creates a rotating, pulsing, pressure wave with a 100° sweeping discharge.
- The Rotator creates a surface wave or a submerged pressure wave with its 360° rotation of water.
Guide Review - Ocean Currents Wave & Current Generators
The 5 different Ocean Currents Wave & Current generators are an innovative method for producing different wave patterns, virtually anywhere in your tank. Each unit requires a water source (powerhead or pump) of at least 500 GPH. Each model has a 1/2" threaded nylon inlet which can be threaded into a 3/4" adapted for use with 3/4" threaded pipes or the 3/4" hose barb. These units would work well with existing return pumps from a sump, offering wave making options to the user, instead of just a solid stream of water. It should be noted that water pressure is greatly reduced due to back pressure from units. Users report that the rotators require frequent replacement.
