Guide Review - Salifert Pro-Test Kits

Top of the Line Choice With Reef Keepers Made in Holland, even though Salifert test kits may be little more complex and costly to use than other brands, they are touted by many aquarists, particularly reef keepers, as being THE best choice in test kits. They offer a wide range of both basic and reef water tests, including some you can't find elsewhere. They are said to be some of the most precise and accurate available on the market that allows for accurate dosing when additives are needed, and feature bold color changes or good color comparison charts. You may pay a little more for them, but they are said to be worth it!

Amazing, Sensitive and Accurate, Member arthuromega

As a newbie, when I made all my original purchases from the LFS, it was easy to sucker me in to buying the most expensive and 'recommended' items. After a couple months I learned that there were easier and far less expensive test kits out on the market so I purchased them. I was simply amazed at how inaccurate or difficult they were to read for changes in color. The Salifert tests have a truly dramatic color change effect. More importantly, the accuracy and the method used to obtain the specific result is great. Yes, all the tests in my experience have a more thorough process, but it's easy to perform the tests after a few times. More importantly, once you learn one Salifert test, you generally get the gist of the others. These tests are expensive but I truly could not give a higher recommendation for anyone in the hobby. If you find you frequently have fluctuations are problems with you tank, switch to a Salifert test kit and see the difference. I use the Magnesium, Calcium, Activated Carbon and Phosphorus kits - they are so incredibly accurate.
