  • This photo was sent to use by Tom as and entry into one of our photo contests. It was placed in our June 2001 Reef Tank Contest, and voted the winning photo!! As we are limited to the size of image that we can display in our contests, we wanted to show his image in its full view! The following information was provided by Tom.
  • Equipment & Set Up
    • 180 gallon plexiglass aquarium.
    • 1 Genx Pump, for return.
    • 1 Rio 3000 Pump, for the HSA type homemade Skimmer.
    • 1 Rio 2100 Pump, for the Refugium Tank.
    • 2 Rio Pumps, for water circulation.
    • 1 Wavemaker.
    • A float valve is in the 20 gallon sump for automatic top off.
    • The base of the tank has two inches of fine coral sand, and the live rocks sits on top of two inch pieces of PVC above the sand.
    • Pellet food is dispense automaticaly with a timer, so the tank can be unattended two weeks at a time.
    • Water change is done every three months - 30%.
  • Lighting
    • 3 Metal Halides
    • 2 - 175watt 10000k
    • 1 - 250 watts 6500k Iwasaki
    • 4 Blue Actinic VHO Bulbs
    • 1 light of America 65 watt PC light, for the refugium.
    • All lighting is on a timer.
  • Tank Inhabitants
    • Soft and Hard Corals: Mushrooms, Leathers, Polyps, Pearls, Bible, some SPS's, and Clams.
    • Fish: 1 Yellow Tang, 1 Gols Band Clown, a pair of Percula Clowns, 1 Flame Angel, and three Blue Damsels.
