Aiptasia Anemones Infested Zoanthid Stone Photos
Before and After Injecting Attached Aiptasia Anemones with Lemon Juice

Here is our Zoanthid stone shown with an infestation of Aiptasia Anemones BEFORE they were injected using our lemon juice injection method. The largest anemone in the foreground is about 3 inches in height with a base diameter of about 3/4 of an inch, and when the tentacles are spread out they span 2-3 inches in diameter. The other anemones are smaller at about 1 to 1-1/2 inches in height. If you are trying to figure out what the thing is in the background of upper left hand corner, it is a garden hose, as this image was shot while we were in the middle of a water change. Here is the same Zoanthid stone shown 2 days after injecting the circled Aiptasia Anemones with lemon juice. They are completely gone, and with no harm to the zoanthid polyps. It was interesting for us to watch our Flame Angelfish pick at and eat the remnants of the dead anemones grayish-white shriveled up flesh as it slowly dissolved away over the two days after treatment. The aiptasia that are still remaining were not treated. Photo Dateline 07/14/03.  ~ Debbie & Stan Hauter
