- A Note From Debbie & Stan
This is a reef tank that Albert Thiel had many, many years ago. We liked the picture so much when we saw it, we asked Albert if we could display it. From memory he gave us as much information he could remember about the tank when he had it.
- Tank Set Up & Filtration
- A 380 gallon tank with a 55 gallon sump.
- A plenum filter set up with 4-5 inches of substrate, of which 1.5 inches was a mix of crushed shells, crushed coral and some aragonite, a screen on top of that, and the rest was live sand.
- The actual plenum underneath the grids was 2.5 inches.
- Skimmer TAT Model 90101 with 5MD pump.
- Very strong circulation in the tank.
- About 100 lbs. of live rock stacked towards one end of the tank, because the tank end was against a wall so the tank insides could be seen through two of the long panes and one of the short ones, the 2 foot one which was at the front.
- Lighting
- 4 - 400 watt metal halides 6500 K
- Tank Inhabitants
- Corals: Only soft and large stony polyped corals, no small stony polyped ones.
- Load: High
- Fish: Minimal
