Many saltwater aquarists have found that cultivating macroalgae either in their main tanks, or in refugiums and/or sumps can have a lot of benefits. Macroalgae can supply herbivores with natural, nutritious food while reducing NO3 & PO4 levels. Some macroalgae also provide a great media for copepod/amphipod reproduction.
