Clownfish are pretty selective about which anemones they will snuggle into. If you are going to buy an anemone for your Clown, see which ones it prefers before you spend any money on it.

My clownfish is very aggressive normally. For some reason it liked the new foxfish but it was not friendly to other fish.

I have been breeding clownfish in my home aquarium for over a year. It is not that hard to do and can pay for the aquarium electricity bill. Not to meantion that you are doing the right thing by helping the hobby and protecting the reefs of the world.

Are you condoning buying an Anemone and Clownfish? Most anemone don’t survive more that a few months, the most was two years yet they survive for hundreds of years in the wild! And the fact that commercial collectors are taking massive amounts of clownfish, breeding clownfish at that, out of the wild is decreasing their numbers. Since 2003 Clownfish have become endangered and more and more Anemone are dying.

I had a gold stripe maroon clown and he was never aggressive with me when I would arrange coral but would pick on my tail spot blenny, but not the other fish. I traded him for an oceleris clown. He doesn’t bother anything else in the tank but will attack me if I put my hand in the tank. He bites the hand that feeds him, good thing he doesn’t have teeth.
