Host Sea Anemone Survey

Friday April 17, 2009
Do you have a Host Sea Anemone in your tank? Have you ever had a Sea Anemone in your tank? If you have, your input can be a great help with a research project that is underway.

Take a few minutes to participate in the Host Sea Anemone Survey which asks about your experience with Host Sea Anemones in your aquarium. Even if you didn't have the best of luck with your anemone, sharing your experience will greatly help aquarists understand what it does and does not help anemones to survive in the aquarium environment.

The raw data and conclusions of the survey will be posted on the About Saltwater Aquariums site. Participants in the survey will be sent a copy of the data and conclusions as soon as the survey is complete.

I would like to know if it is possible to have a coral tank that relies on sunlight as its only source of lighting.

(2) Stephen says:

To have an Aquarium lit by Sunlight alone is a great Energy Saving Idea. I’ve thought of the idea and think by setting up a Tracking Solar Reflector to reflect light onto a stationary mirror located above the Aquarium.

(3) Sandy Clark says:

Sounds like a good idea because of the patterns of the sun, but the problem with using natural sunlight is that it promotes the growth of nuisance algae which you don’t want. This problem can be solved, however by choosing the right fish, invertebrates and plants.
Good Luck!!
